Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations 2014, Year of the Horse

Design September 2013 – January 2014, on display in Singapore’s Chinatown 11 January – 28 February 2014

The design has been organized by us as a 2-phase competition, with at first individual- then team proposals shared with the client for joint discussions and decisions on the executed design. The students interpreted a Chinese idiom around the theme ‘10,000 horses galloping in grace towards success’ to develop “the overall design of a dynamic and fluid continuity of galloping horses interweaved among ribbons” as an urban installation, on top of and in the middle stripe of two prominent streets in Singapore’ Chinatown. Most of the students had no prior design experience or direct contacts with clients but did exceptionally well in managing a project with a 2 Mio.$ in the budget.
